PRINCIPAL MESSAGE

A cozy, serene autumn scene with colorful fall leaves, a warm cup of cider, and a book on a wooden rustic background.

SEASONS

Seasons come and go - in weather and in life. Reflecting on past seasons makes me grateful for each one. Tough seasons make us stronger. They can also help us be more prepared to handle the next tough season. Also, we can be more appreciative of easier seasons. There is always something to be grateful for in each season, including what we learn and how we grow. Each season helps us appreciate the other seasons.

🍂  FALL INTO RESPONSIBILITY  🍂

COUNSELOR'S CORNER

CHARACTER STRONG • RESPONSIBILITY

Growing kind hearts, strong minds, and brave learners—together!

What Does Responsibility Mean?

Responsibility means doing what we are expected to do, making safe and respectful choices, and owning our actions. We show responsibility when we follow through, tell the truth, take care of people and things, and make things right when we make a mistake.

🏫 Responsibility at School

• Be ready to learn and bring what you need.

• Follow classroom, playground, and hallway expectations.

• Use kind words and include others.

• Take care of school supplies and shared spaces.

• Speak up or get help when something is unsafe or unkind.

• Own mistakes: apologize, repair, and try again.

🏠 Responsibility at Home

• Complete age-appropriate chores and routines.

• Take care of belongings and shared spaces.

• Listen to directions and follow family expectations.

• Use respectful words—even when you disagree.

• Help siblings and family members when you can.

• Own your choices and work to make things right.

Responsibility + Bullying Prevention

Being responsible also means helping create a school where everyone feels safe, included, and respected. Students are not responsible for someone else's harmful behavior, but they can be responsible for what they choose to do next: be an upstander, get a trusted adult, include someone who is left out, and avoid joining in.

NOTICE

Pay attention when someone is being left out, teased, threatened, or repeatedly targeted.

ACT

Use a calm, respectful response when it is safe: include, support, or move away from the situation.

TELL

Get a trusted adult. Reporting a safety concern is a responsible choice—not tattling.

Try It Together: The Responsibility Challenge

Choose one responsibility to practice this week. At school, your child might take ownership of a classroom job, include someone at recess, or clean up without being asked. At home, try a new chore, help a sibling, or practice owning a mistake. At the end of the week, ask: “What did you do? How did it help someone else? What will you try next?”

Family Conversation Starters

• What does being responsible look like in your classroom?

• What is one responsibility you are proud of?

• What could you do if you see someone being treated unkindly?

• How can we help each other be responsible at home?

Responsibility is more than a word—it is a choice we practice every day!
